How to Connect an Audi GPS Antenna With Magellan

1. Select an external antenna that is compatible with the Magellan unit in your particular Audi. You can find one from auto accessory stores or even electronics stores. If you select a magnet-mount antenna, proceed to step 2.
2. Place your magnet-mount antenna on the roof of your Audi so that it is unobstructed. The magnet base on the mount will secure the antenna to your car.
3. Run the antenna cable from the base of the antenna on top of the car through the door of your car. Running the cable through the window is dangerous because you can rip the antenna off the roof if you have the window rolled up and open the door. The rubber padding on the sides of the car door will prevent the door from cutting through the cable.
4. Plug the end of the antenna cable into the input jack on the front of your Magellan.

How do I Change the Clutch Slave Cylinder in a 1997 BMW 328i?

1. Lift the front of the BMW with a floor jack and support it on a pair of jack stands. You can also drive the car up onto a pair of ramps positioned in front of it to gain access to the underside.
2. Locate the slave cylinder, which is bolted to the left side of the transmission and is a cylindrical part with a hydraulic line coming off the end of it.
3. Place a container under the slave cylinder to catch any spilled hydraulic fluid. Loosen and remove the hydraulic line that fastens to the end of the slave cylinder with a line wrench.
4. Loosen and remove the nuts that hold the master cylinder to the transmission with a socket set. You may need to use an extension on the end of the socket to allow you to more easily reach the upper nut. Remove the slave cylinder from the transmission.
5. Install the new slave cylinder in the reverse of removal. Install and tighten the two nuts that hold it to the transmission. Inspect the hydraulic line. If it appears dried out and cracked or damaged in any way, replace it with a new hose. Disconnect the hose on the opposite end of where it connects to the master cylinder. Install the hose and tighten the nut on the end.
6. Attach a power bleeder to the top of the master cylinder reservoir. Pump up the pressure with the bleeder. Attach the bleeder hose to the bleeder valve located on the slave cylinder. Put the other end of the hose in a container filled with hydraulic fluid. Loosen the bleeder valve and let the fluid bleed out until there are no more bubbles.
7. Remove the hose from the master cylinder. Remove the bleeder from the clutch fluid reservoir. Fill the clutch fluid reservoir if it is low. Check the clutch to ensure that it is engaging properly. Lower the car to the ground.

How to Replace a 1998 Audi Thermostat

1. Remove the radiator hose clamp that secures the top radiator hose to the thermostat housing. Do this by prying the clamp loose with a pair of pliers. With the clamp loose, pull the hose off the thermostat housing. Hold the hose vertical to drain the radiator fluid back into the radiator. Push the radiator hose off to the side.
2. Remove the bolts that secure the thermostat housing to the intake manifold of the Audi with a wrench. Do not discard the bolts. Use them when reattaching the housing.
3. Lift the thermostat housing off the engine to expose the thermostat. Inspect the bottom of the thermostat for the thermostat gasket. If it is not on the thermostat housing, it will be on the base of the intake manifold. Remove the old thermostat gasket and place a new one on the base of the thermostat housing.
4. Pull the old thermostat out of the intake manifold and replace it with a new one. The end marked 'top' should face upward and the end with the spring in it must face downward.
5. Place the thermostat housing on top of the thermostat gasket and bolt it into place using the old bolts.
6. Slide the radiator hose onto the thermostat housing and secure it with the clamp. If the clamp suffered damage during the removal process, replace it with a band clamp.

How to Change Transmission Fluid on a ML430

1. Park the vehicle on a level surface and allow the engine to cool down. Raise the front of the vehicle with a floor jack and support the front end with jack stands. Crawl underneath the vehicle and locate the transmission drain pan. The drain pan is in the middle of the engine undercarriage.
2. Place a layer of newspaper on the ground underneath the transmission drain pan. Position the catch pan underneath the drain plug. Use a ratchet with a 5 mm hex socket to remove the drain plug and allow the fluid to drain into the catch pan. Reinsert the drain plug when finished.
3. Use a number 30 Torx socket to remove the six bolts holding the drain pan in place. Carefully lower the pan and tip it towards the catch pan to drain away any remaining fluid.
4. Inspect the drain pan and the condition of the old transmission fluid. Metal particulates in the bottom of the pan or in the fluid indicate signs of impending transmission failure. Wipe down the drain pan and bolts with a shop towel.
5. Pull the transmission filter out of its mounting area inside the transmission. Tip the filter towards the catch pan to drain any remaining fluid. Insert the new transmission filter into the transmission.
6. Locate the oval torque converter housing ahead of the transmission pan. Have a partner turn the engine with a 27 mm socket and a long breaker bar applied to the crankshaft pulley nut until the drain plug becomes visible through the open slot. Position the catch pan under the torque converter and use a 5 mm hex socket and a socket extension to remove the drain plug. Allow the fluid to completely drain and reinsert the drain plug.
7. Inspect the drain pan gasket for any signs of aging and wear. If needed, replace the drain pan gasket with a new one. Otherwise, reuse the gasket when reinstalling the drain pan. Place the gasket around the lip of the drain pan and lift the pan into place. Insert and torque the six retaining bolts to 106 inch-pounds.
8. Remove the catch pan and newspaper from underneath the vehicle. Seal the pan and set it aside for proper disposal. Remove the jack stands and lower the vehicle to the ground. Open the hood and locate the transmission tube near the firewall on the left side of the engine compartment. Place a long neck funnel into the tube and pour 6 liters of Mercedes Benz automatic transmission fluid into the tube.
9. Start the engine and take the vehicle on a short drive. This will allow the transmission to come up to operating temperature. Place the vehicle in Park and use an infrared thermometer to measure the temperature of the transmission drain pan. The temperature should read around 80 degrees Celsius.
10. Use the Mercedes Benz dipstick tool to measure the fluid level while the vehicle is idling. Insert the dipstick through the transmission tube until it hits the bottom of the transmission drain pan and then remove the dipstick. The amount of fluid inside the transmission should be within the 80 degrees Celsius mark on the dipstick. If the fluid level is below the bottom fill mark, add more transmission fluid as needed. If the fluid level is above the top fill mark, immediately drain the excess fluid.
11. Dispose of the old transmission fluid at the nearest automotive parts outlet or repair shop. Most shops will dispose of the fluid free of charge.
