How to Tune a BMW 330

1. Tune the suspension for better handling. Install stiffer, lower springs paired with performance shocks for a handling increase or you can install an adjustable coilover kit for the ultimate in handling upgrades. To do this, the old suspension must be removed.
2. Upgrade the wheels and tires. Once your 330 has a lower ride height, the next logical step is to upgrade the stock wheels and tires with a set of aftermarket alloys and stickier tires. To install new wheels and tires, use a floor jack to raise the car, remove the old wheels and then install the new wheel and tire package.
3. Upgrade the brakes. On the 330, you can simply upgrade to performance compound pads. For the ultimate upgrade, install a big brake kit, which will include larger rotors, calipers and braided steel brake lines for a dramatic improvement.
4. Upgrade the exterior and interior. For the exterior, a common upgrade is the installation of carbon fiber hood and trunk lids. To install a new trunk and hood, remove the bolts that hold the stock hood to the hinges and bolt on the aftermarket components. For the interior, remove the stock seats and bolts in a set of performance bucket seats. These will install with adapters available from the maker of the seats. Bolt in the seat adapters to the existing bolt holes and then bolt in the new seats.

3. Reach inside the middle of the motorcycle to the wires located under the handlebars connecting the lightbulb to the motorcycle. Disconnect the clips holding the wires together with your fingers.
4. Remove the rubber cover from the lightbulb. Remove the old lightbulb from the connector.
5. Plug the new bulb into the headlight hole. Click it in place. Plug the connector into the prongs located on the back of the bulb. Replace the rubber cover over the bulb assembly.

How to Protect a Turbo

1. Drive lightly when you first start your car. Since a turbocharger is oil lubricated, it is important that you stay out of boost (not develop positive pressure in the turbocharger) until your engine oil temperature reaches normal. This means you should drive gently for the first few minutes when you first start the car.
2. Drive lightly a few minutes before you stop and park your car. Because turbochargers are driven by an engine's exhaust system, they run at extremely high temperatures. The turbocharger gets hot, even red hot when you have been driving hard. If you drive hard and immediately turn off the engine, lubricating oil sits in the turbocharger housing and can burn or breakdown and 'coke' the turbocharger bearings. Ideally, let your car sit for a minute or two at idle if you have been driving hard to help ensure the turbocharger has a long service life. Or, you can achieve the same result by simply driving slowly and staying out of boost as you get close to your destination. Even modern water-cooled turbochargers reach extremely high temperatures and benefit from a cool-down period before turning the engine off.
3. Use synthetic oil. Oil is the lifeblood of your turbocharger, and fresh synthetic oil is the number one safeguard for a turbocharger. In addition, change your oil frequently. You can buy fully synthetic oil at automotive supply stores or just ask your service center to install fully synthetic oil every time you have the oil changed.
4. Periodically inspect your engine bay's vacuum hoses. Turbochargers add complexity in the form of air hoses that run from the intercooler as well as to the intake manifold. If you have a leaky air hose, the turbocharger will work harder to maintain boost since air pressure is being lost. Check your hoses every couple of months for tears, leaks or to see if any hoses have come loose.

How to Change the Oil on a Mercedes Diesel

1. Drain the oil from the Mercedes. If you are doing this at home, you will need to take an oil pan and lie underneath the car. If you have access to a car shop, you can put the car on a lift and use a stand up oil pan.
To drain the oil, use a socket wrench to remove the bolt on the side of the oil tank. The oil will drain out at a high pressure at first so put your pan to the right of the oil tank to catch the stream of oil. The oil will take about five minutes to completely drain.
2. Use a socket wrench to put the bolt back on the oil tank underneath the car. If you are using a car lift, you can lower the car now. The work underneath the car is finished.
3. Open the hood and remove the cap covering the fuel filter. There is one bolt on each side of the cap. Use a socket wrench to remove the bolts. The fuel filter is located to the left of the windshield wiper fluid.
4.
Remove the old fuel filter and set it aside for recycling.
5.
Put in a new fuel filter. You will need to reference your Mercedes owner's manual to find out what type of fuel filter your diesel requires. You can buy the filter at an auto parts store or on the Internet. Just drop the fuel filter in the hole.
6.
Put the cap back over the fuel filter and screw the bolts on tightly using a socket wrench.
7.
Screw off the lid on the oil tank and put a funnel over the hole to the tank.
8.
Pour the oil into the funnel. Reference your Mercedes owner's manual to find out what type of oil and how much oil your diesel needs. You can use standard oil or synthetic. If you have a newer diesel it is good to use synthetic, but older diesels do not adjust to synthetic oil well. Do not pour in more than the required amount.
9. Screw the top back on the oil tank and check underneath the car to make sure no oil is leaking out of the tank.
10. Turn the car on and watch the oil pressure gauge. The gauge should go up to around 2 within 1 minute. If the oil pressure does not increase, the oil cap or bolt on the bottom are not tight enough.

How to Remove a Manual Transmission

1. Elevate the front of the vehicle using the floor jack and support the vehicle with two jack stands. Make sure the vehicle is stable.
2. Disengage all electrical components connected to the transmission. Indicate by marking the position of the drive shaft for its reinstallation. From the output shaft, remove the rear U joint. Jam the cloth to keep the liquid from dripping out of the extension housing.
3. Loosen the shift linkages and the speedometer cable from the transmission manually. Place the transmission jack under the transmission, and then take a socket wrench and remove the support nut, the cross-member, and the rear support insulator from the rear engine. Support the engine with a jack stand and use the transmission jack to withdraw the transmission toward the rear of the vehicle.
4. Remove the transmission from the transmission jack.

3. Remove the cap on the high side and connect the red gauge to the port. You can remove the cap by unscrewing it by hand, the screwing the red hose onto the port.
4. Record the PSI readings on the gauges and compare them to the recommended PSI ratings for your AC system in your owner's manual.
5. Connect a refrigerant can to the yellow hose on your AC gauges and allow it to charge the system. Continue filling until the blue gauge reaches the same PSI as recommended in the owner's manual.
6. Disconnect the refrigerant can, then remove the red hose, and finally disconnect the blue hose.
