How to Use My Phone With My Mercedes

Blue-Tooth Technology
1. Determine whether or not your cell phone has blue-tooth capabilities. You can find out by asking the sales representative or looking in the owner's manual. Turn your blue-tooth function on, by following the specific directions for your particular cell phone.
2. Verify your particular Mercedes has blue-tooth, by contacting your local Mercedes dealer. Not all Mercedes models have blue-tooth technology. Depending on the year, model and trim level you may or may not have this feature.
3. Turn your Mercedes' blue-tooth technology on, if you have this feature. Both the cell phone and vehicle will connect together at this time. All calls will go through the speakers of your Mercedes. If you are listening to music and the phone begins to ring, the music will subside, and you will hear the ringing through the speakers. Once you answer the phone, you will be able to talk hands-free.
Auxiliary Connection
4. Verify your particular Mercedes has an auxiliary port. Most of the time the auxiliary port is marked as 'AUX' and is located near the stereo controls. Again, not all Mercedes models come with this feature.
5. Purchase an auxiliary cable compatible with your particular phone. For example, if you have an iPhone, ask the sales representative to show you the cable which allows you to link your phone into the AUX port in your Mercedes. These cables are usually around $15 at stores such as Best Buy.
6. Insert one end of the AUX cable into the phone and the other end into the AUX port in your Mercedes. Once the phone is connected, you will be able to make calls as usual but talk hands-free and listen to music from your phone through your car stereo. According to Naked Cell Phone, using an auxiliary cable provides static-free sound because of the direct cord connection to your stereo, providing the best sound quality.

How to Replace Car Tires

1.
Before you run to the tire store and buy a new set of tires, first determine if you need to replace your tires. A tire is normally deemed unsafe to drive on if the tread depth is 2/32 of an inch or less (a new tire usually has 10/32). A quick way to check this is to invert a penny and place it in the tread of the tire. If you can see the top of Abraham Lincoln's head, the tires need replaced.New research has recommended doing this test with a quarter instead of a penny. Your tires will be replaced sooner, but you will be able to stop quicker on wet pavement.
2.
Once you have determined that you need new tires, you need to find out what size tire you need. The sidewall of your current tires should have the size printed on it; however, I would not recommend using this information, unless you purchased your vehicle brand new. Any previous owners of your vehicle may have purchased the wrong size tire. You can find the correct size on the tire placard. Depending on the car, you may find this information on the vehicle door edge, door post, glove box door, or fuel door. The size will look like P###/##R##. For example, my vehicle's tire size is P205/65R15.
3.
As you begin looking for tires, you will find that there are many types and styles of tires. When you buy tires, try to buy tires that match your needs. M&S or Mud and Snow tires are the most popular and will probably work for most people. There are also winter tires designed for driving in snow, slush, ice, and cold dry highways. If you use your car to tow or haul heavy items, you will want to check the load index of the tire. The larger the number, the more weight the tire can tolerate without performance suffering. Next to the load index will be a letter which represents the Speed Rating. The letters are not in order; however, the lowest rating is a Q which represents a test speed of up to 100 mph. It is NEVER recommended to exceed posted speed limits on the roads you drive.
4.
Other information you may find useful is the tire warranty. Some tires do not have a warranty (like winter tires and some high performance tires). In general, touring tires will have a higher tread life warranty. The reason is because the tires are made of a harder rubber and do not wear away as quickly. Since they are made of a harder rubber, though, some performance is lost for cornering and wet weather traction is also sacrificed. If you have a warranty claim, you will pay a prorated price for your next set of tires based on how long your old tires lasted compared to how long they were expected to last.
5.
Finally, consider the look of the tire. Personally, I like an all black tire. Some people like tires with a white wall. Other people like raised white letters on their tires. When shopping for tires, be sure to select a tire style that fits you and your car's personality. Be aware that some tires can be mounted in more than one way. For example, a tire with raised white letters may be able to be installed so that the lettering is towards the vehicle showing a smooth black tire towards the outside.

How to Rotate amp; Balance the Tires on a BMW X5

1. Loosen the lug nuts that hold the X5's wheels on. You may want to use a breaker bar on the end of the tool that you are using.
2. Lift the BMW with a heavy duty floor jack and lower it onto jack stands at all four corners. Finish removing the lug nuts and the wheels, noting which corner of the vehicle each wheel was installed on.
3. Transport the wheels and tires to a tire shop with another vehicle so that the tire shop can balance the tires for you. Balancing tires should never be undertaken by an amateur, as it takes special tools and skills. Even if you have access to the equipment, do not do this unless you are familiar with the process of balancing tires.
4. Transport the wheels and tires back to where your X5 is supported on jack stands. If your X5 has the same size tires at all four corners, move the left rear wheel and tire to the left front, the left front to the back, the right rear to the front and the right front to the back.
5. If your X5 has staggered wheels, that is if the rear wheels are wider than the front wheels, do not perform any rotating. Simply replace the tires when they are worn. Lower the BMW off of the jack stands. Tighten the lug nuts on the wheels by hand with a tire iron.

How to Maintain a 2003 Audi TT

1. Open your hood and remove the air filter. Hold it up to the light. You should be able to see through the filter. If you cannot, this means it's dirty and needs to be replaced. The purpose of the air filter is to filter out any debris that enters the air system. This prevents damage to your engine. Dirty air filters can cause clogs in your hoses and your Audi will run poorly with inadequate air flow.
2. Check your brakes during tire rotations and changes. Brakes should be replaced when they are about 75 to 80 percent worn. Any more, and they can cause damage and scoring into your rotors, which will require rotor replacement as well. How often you need to replace your brakes depends on how much driving you do. More driving and frequent stopping wears the pads out faster.
3. Change the oil in your Audi TT every 3,000 miles or at least every three months to keep the oil fresh. The oil lubricates the moving parts of your engine and keeps it clean. The oil filter will need to be changed with each oil change. This filters out dirt and debris that can cause engine damage and sludge. Check the oil level in your Audi every month to ensure there are no oil leaks and that your oil is at the correct level.
4. Check the air pressure in your tires often. Especially between seasons when the temperatures fluctuate. This can cause a decrease in pressure, which causes pull on the tires. This can wear out the tread on your tires faster. Make sure tires are always fully inflated. Replace the tires once the tread is fairly worn.
5. Get a tune up every couple years. This involves replacing all the spark plugs, hoses, and belts even if they do not look worn. Also, have the coolant flushed and replaced with new fluid. This will head of any possible mechanical problems before they have a chance to start. This prevents any air leakage that you may not know about with old hoses or squeaky belts. It helps keep the engine running smooth.
6. Clean your Audi's interior by vacuuming the seats and floors regularly. This will pick up any dirt or debris you may carry in on your shoes. It will keep it from getting ground into the fabric and causing stains. Wash the outside of your car often and apply a coat of wax a couple times a year. This will prevent fading of the paint.
