How to Install Wider Tires on an Audi

1. Decide what size tire you want to install. You may or may not be able to use your existing wheels, depending on what the width of the new tire is going to be. If you want to install tires that are a lot wider than your existing ones, you may have to use wider wheels as well. An example would be replacing 205/60-16 tires with 255/45-16 tires. The new wider tire would probably not fit comfortably on the wheels. If you are installing tires that are only a little wider, you can use your existing wheels. An example would be replacing 205/60-16 tires with a 225/55-16 tires. Using new wheels will also allow you to go with a larger-diameter wheel and tire package.
2. Determine how wide your wheels are. Audis come with a wide range of wheel sizes, some wide and some not so wide. Look in your owner’s manual or the back of the wheel for the sizes. To look at the back of the wheel, loosen the lug nuts, raise the car and remove the wheel. Give the sizes to a tire professional to determine what tires will fit.
3. Ensure that the outer diameter of your new tire is the same as your old tire. This will be determined by the profile of the new tire, which is the distance from the outer edge of the wheel to the outer part of the tire. If the wheel and tire are shorter or taller, your speedometer will not read correctly.
4. Purchase your new tires and, if applicable, new wheels.
5. Have the tires installed on your existing wheels if you did not get a wheel and tire package. Do not attempt to install the tires yourself because it requires special equipment to perform properly. If you purchased a wheel and tire package, you can install them yourself. Loosen the lug nuts for the wheels, and lift the vehicle with a floor jack. Install the new wheels and tires one corner at a time.

How to Troubleshoot a Mercedes Diesel

1. Check to see if the engine starts normally. On some older Mercedes diesels, the vehicle would not start or would have a tough time starting in extremely cold climates like those found typically in the northern United States and Canada. To correct this problem, you'll need to take your vehicle to a Mercedes dealership so that they can install a block heater. The block heater will keep the engine block warm, which will in turn make it easier to start on a cold day.
2. Listen for a rough idle when the engine warms up. Some drivers forget that they need to make sure that they are running diesel fuel and not regular gasoline in their diesel engines, and so they may have 1/2 tank of diesel fuel already and decide to fill up the tank, but forget to use diesel fuel (or assume that mixing fuels is OK). The high octane gasoline found at every gas station simply will not cause an efficient combustion in a diesel engine. In some cases, the vehicle will not start or run at all. You'll need to have the fuel tank drained for you by an experienced mechanic so that the tank can be refilled with diesel fuel.
3. Check to make sure that the Mercedes engine revs normally throughout the RPM range of your vehicle. The Mercedes diesel engines depend heavily on compression to make the engine work properly. Low or uneven compression in the Mercedes diesel engine can hinder performance, and prevent the engine from revving up. If this happens, you'll need to have the vehicle serviced by a Mercedes dealership.

How to Make a Key for a 1995 Mercedes E320

1. Contact your local Mercedes-Benz dealership. Your 1995 E320 comes with a keyless entry system that requires a special key manufactured by Mercedes-Benz USA to operate the vehicle.
2. Provide Mercedes-Benz with the vehicle identification number, or VIN, and the year of your Mercedes E320. The VIN is located on all of your purchase paperwork, insurance cards and on the door panel of the driver's door. MB needs your VIN because it contains the key code for your specific vehicle, which lets them know exactly how to cut your new key to make it work with your MB.
3. Pick up your new key from Mercedes. Before you pay for and leave with your key you must be able to prove you own the vehicle by providing proof of ownership. Photo identification along with your purchase paperwork, title, registration and/or insurance card are all acceptable.
