How to Replace the Brake Pads on a Mercedes

1. Park your Mercedes-Benz with ample room for working on both sides of the vehicle safely. Put the transmission in Park and apply the parking brake. Place tire blocks behind the rear tires to prevent the vehicle from rolling backward during installation.
2. Loosen the lug nuts on the wheels of the Mercedes using the socket at the end of the tire iron.
3. Lift the vehicle using a lifting jack. Place the jack beneath the frame of the car, not the fender, and lift until the tires are at least 2 inches clear of the road surface. Place jack stands beneath the frame and lower the Benz. Make sure the tires are clear of the ground when resting on the jack stands.
4. Remove the lug nuts and pull the wheels from the lug bolts.
5. Remove the calipers. Unscrew the two caliper bolts found at the inner top and bottom of the caliper (nearest to the Mercedes' frame) using a 13 mm socket and ratchet. For older models and M-Class vehicles, use a Torx T-40 socket and ratchet.
6. Remove the brake pads from the caliper. The pads are fixed to the caliper by metal clips. Slide the pads off by hand. If the brakes are rusted, spray the brake pad clips with chain lubricant or WD-40. Rusted clips are easily damaged during removal.
7. Open the caliper piston. The piston is the ring that protrudes from one of the inner walls of the caliper. The piston forces the brake pads against the rotors during braking. Because the new pads will be thicker than the worn pads, you will have to open the piston to accommodate the larger pad. Squeeze the piston against the side of the caliper using vise-grip pliers.
8. Install the new brake pads. Slide the pads onto the caliper. Properly installed pads will face each other and mirror the curve of the caliper.
9. Place the caliper around the rotor. Replace the caliper bolts using a 13 mm socket or Torx T-40 socket and ratchet.
10. Replace the wheels and tighten the lug nuts by hand. Raise the Mercedes to remove the jack stands before lowering the vehicle to the ground. Tighten the lug nuts with the tire iron once the vehicle is on the ground.
11. Apply the brake. Press the brake repeatedly until the pedal response is normal.

How to Take Out the Radio in an Audi TT

1. Acquire Audi radio removal keys. Like several other German brands (such as Volkswagen and Porsche), Audi radios require special keys. Buy them at an Audi dealer or from an online retailer. If your TT radio is double-din, you'll need four keys; if it's single-din, you'll need only two keys.
2. Unhook the negative battery cable. The battery in the 3.2 model is in the trunk; all others are under the hood. Use a pair of pliers to remove the nut from the negative battery terminal, then slide the cable off.
3. Insert the Audi radio keys fully into the corners of the radio. Grasp the radio and pull it straight out.
4. Press the two tabs on the sides of the Audi radio wiring harness; pull the harness from the rear of the radio.
5. Disconnect the antenna cable by pulling it straight out.

How do I Correct a Rough Idle Audi TT 2003?

1. Check the spark plugs and ignition coil packs that sit above each spark plug. You can access this part of your TT's engine by opening the hood and removing the plastic engine cover. If the plugs are covered in soot and look dirty, or if any of the ignition coils do not fire while the engine's running, this could be the cause of your rough idle.
2. Use a fuel injector cleaning solution that can be poured into your Audi TT's gas tank. These chemicals help dissolve dirt and contaminants that could be hindering the flow of fuel into your TT's cylinders. Typically, the fuel injector cleaner is poured in when there is approximately 1/4 tank of gas left.
3. Check intake manifold and its associated parts including the idle control valve, air box, air filter, and hosing. If the hosing is cracked, there could be too much air being sucked into the intake manifold, thus causing it to run roughly. As the engine runs, follow the components attached to your TT's intake manifold and listen for hissing, which can indicate leaks in the intake system.

How Do I Charge a 525 BMW Battery?

1. Locate the battery in your 525 BMW. Check under the hood. Open the trunk and look on the passenger's side for a panel which would cover the battery, if you do not locate it under the hood. Check under the back seat if you still fail to locate it. Face the back seat, pull the front of the seat firmly in an upwards direction. Remove the top of the back seat and place it in a safe location. Consult your manual for help if still unsuccessful.
2. Look at the battery. Find two round posts. Locate the positive one, marked with a '+'. Locate the negative one, generally marked with a '-'. Attach the cable terminal marked with a '-', and generally black, to the negative post. Attach the battery cable terminal marked with a '+', and generally red, to the positive post, being careful not to hit any metal part or another cable terminal. Attach the other end of the cables to the car battery which is fully charged (if you are not utilizing a battery charger).
3. Start the car that is providing the power or activate the battery charger as necessary. After waiting approximately three minutes or per directions on your battery charger, try starting your car. Remove the battery cables in reverse order. Allow your car to run about 20 minutes to fully charge it. Close hood, replace panel or top of back seat.

How to Install a BMW Performance Clutch Kit

1. Disconnect the car battery to avoid any potential injury.
2. Jack the car up so that you can get at the undercarriage safely. A hydraulic lift is preferable if you have access to one.
3. Detach the BMW's exhaust system, driveshaft and shifter from the transmission.
4. Jack up a floor jack directly beneath the transmission to support it as you work.
5. Remove the slave cylinder from the side of the transmission, then disconnect the backup lamp switch and its harness before detaching the lower transmission support bar.
6. Unbolt the transmission itself from the engine block using Torx sockets ranging from E6 to E16. These sockets are necessary because the bolts themselves are very specialized and cannot be removed without them.
7. Detach the transmission from the engine, making sure that it is supported by the floor jack. It needs to stay balanced on the jack without slipping or falling.
8. Remove the bolts on the BMW's pressure plate and pull it away to reveal the flywheel. Then detach the flywheel bolts and pull the flywheel out with a wrench or breaker bar.
