How to Change the Battery in an Audi Key

1. Purchase a new CR 2032 or CR 1620 battery, depending on your Audi's model and year of manufacture. You may want to check your owner's manual, just to be sure. The batteries are available at automotive stores and at Audi dealers.
2. Press the ridged release button located on the part of the remote control key with the three rings, and pull out the emergency key. The ridges will be located on the opposite side from the rings. Barring this, you can use a butter knife or flat-head screwdriver in the gap between the key (or mechanical) portion and the button (electronic) portion of the remote to pry them apart.
3. Hold the key so that the three buttons face up. You should see more ridges exposed where you've just pulled off the emergency key. Press on the ridges while pulling out the battery carrier. If you don't see the ridges, then insert the butter knife into the gap, on the side, to pry the entire lid off. You actually should be able to do this with your bare hands.
4. Insert a new battery into the remote control. Make sure the positive (+) symbol faces down.
5. Slide in the battery carrier back to its original position and reinsert the emergency key.
6. Drop off the old battery at the store where you bought the new one. They’ll be able to recycle it or dispose of it properly.

How to Change the Oil for a BMW 323i

1. Visit the parts department at a BMW dealership. Tell the salesperson that you need an oil filter kit and synthetic engine oil for a BMW 323i. Purchase the oil filter kit and BMW 10W-40 oil made for your vehicle model.
2. Insert your keys into the ignition to start your car. Keep your car in park and let your BMW 323i idle for 15 minutes to warm the oil. Set up car ramps in front of each front tire in a dry location such as a garage or carport so that your BMW is protected from the weather during the oil change.
3. Get in your car and shift into drive mode. Drive your front tires onto the car ramps so that the front end of your car is elevated. Pull up on the emergency brake to stabilize your car from moving. Turn the car off.
4. Locate the oil filter housing on the very front top of the engine. Loosen the oil filter cover with the 36 mm socket wrench. Pull up on the cover to remove the cover and the attached old oil filter.
5. Slide the old oil filter off the cover. Discard the old oil filter. Slide the new oil filter onto the cover. Tighten the cover back onto the oil filter housing using your 36 mm socket wrench.
6. Hold your 17 mm socket wrench and position yourself underneath the front of your BMW. Locate a small six-sided nut located towards the center of the engine.
7. Place your oil pan on the ground underneath the drain plug of your BMW 323i. Remove the plug with your 17 mm socket wrench so that the oil drains into the pan. Replace the plug once all the oil has drained from the vehicle. Replace the drain plug to its original position.
8. Come out from underneath the car. Stand over the engine of your vehicle. Open the oil cap located in the center of the engine. Pour 7 quarts of BMW synthetic engine oil into the oil hole. Close the oil cap.
9. Close the hood. Turn your BMW 323i on. Put your car in reverse to back your car off the car ramps. Put your car in park and let it idle for five minutes to distribute the oil throughout the engine. Shut your BMW off.

How to Remove the Wiper Arms From a 1997 BMW

1. Pull the plastic covering off of the base of the wiper arm with your fingers.
2. Unbolt the bolt under the wiper arm cover using a socket wrench.
3. Grab onto the gold plated pressure bolt that is now visible. BMW uses a pressure bolt to hold the wiper arms in place. You'll need a pair of sturdy vise grip pliers that can really grab onto this bolt.
4. Hit the handle of the vise grip pliers to try to rotate the bolt in a counterclockwise fashion. This bolt should break loose after a few good hits. Then, remove the bolt and pull the wiper arm off of the wiper linkage assembly.

My 2003 Mercedes Benz C230 Won#039;t Start

1. Add an additional gallon of fuel to your C230's tank. Turn the key in the ignition to the 'START' position, but not all the way on. Turn the key on and off several times while pumping the gas pedal. This helps to engage the fuel pump if it has been empty.
2. Plug in an onboard diagnostic tool (OBD) to your Mercedes C230. The outlet for the OBD is under the steering wheel. Turn it on and then turn on your vehicle. Allow the OBD to read your car. It will show the codes for problems within the engine. Consult your dealership to translate the codes. The incorrect coding that caused the recall can lead to the check engine light not coming on when it should. The OBD tool will show any items that would have caused the check engine light to come on.
3. Turn the key in the ignition, but do not start the car. Check dashboard lights to see if they are dim or do not come on. Dim lights indicate a drained battery. No lights indicate a dead one. Recharge or replace as necessary.
4. Turn key to start the car. A clicking noise can indicate the starter. A thumping noise is a sign that several parts are malfunctioning, including the fuel line or its components such as the pump or filter. If there is no noise and the battery has been replaced, there may be a problem with the ignition.

How to Reset My Wiper Motor

1. Put your vehicle in park but do not turn the engine off. This is one of the few times when working on a running automobile is okay. Turn the heat all the way up in the vehicle and turn on the defroster to help with the ice removal. If you are just clearing leaves, then you do not need the defroster on. Leave the windshield wipers off for now.
2. Chip away at the ice with an ice scraper. Clear all the ice from your windshield and get into the crevice that the wiper motor rests in and clear out the ice. You may need a small ice pick to completely remove the ice. If there are leaves or other debris clogging the area, then use a pair of pliers to get down into the crevices and remove the debris.
3. Put on a pair of gloves and slip your hand under the wiper arm. Pull the arm down towards the fully extended position, which will be on the right or left side depending upon the vehicle. Do not force the blade past its stop, just make it come into contact and then pull it down to the resting position on the opposite side of the windshield. If the arm stops before the full extension, then you quite likely have more debris to remove. Remove the remaining debris with the pliers or by hand and restart this step.
4. Turn the windshield wipers on at the lowest setting and see if it moves. If it does not move then there could be an electrical problem preventing the wiper motor from resetting, which will require a mechanic with diagnostic equipment to fix.

How Do I Remove the Driver#039;s Side Door Mirror From a C320?

1. Pull off the cover of the inner door panel. The cover mounts to the inner door panel on the opposite side of the mirror mounting.
2. Locate the wiring harness stuffed behind the cover. The harness is comprised of two connectors pushed together. Pull the connectors apart.
3. Remove the three nuts that secure the mirror to the door with a socket and ratchet. Hold the mirror as you remove the final nut.
4. Pull the mirror away from the door and insert the threaded studs of the new mirror through the door.
5. Hold the mirror, while you thread the nuts onto the post, to prevent cross-threading. Tighten the bolts with the socket and ratchet.
6. Push the two connectors back together and stuff the harness back into the sub-frame of the door.
7. Replace the cover onto the inner door panel and snap it into place.

How to Uninstall a Audi A6 Quattro Transmission

1. Take a deep breath. You will need a hoist for this, along with some decent metric tools, and an engine bar or some means of supporting the engine from the top is preferred. Disconnect the negative battery cable and remove all engine covers. Disconnect and remove the mass air and air box. Remove the coolant reservoir and lay to the side. If possible, remove the oxygen sensors from the exhaust pipes from the top. If not, disconnect the connectors (the 2 wide black ones, 1 on each side mounted to the firewall) and cut any zip ties securing the harnesses. Remove top exhaust nuts where possible.
2. Install the engine bar. Raise the vehicle and remove both front wheels and the belly pan (big plastic shield). Remove both side drive axle heat shields. Disconnect both drive axles (10mm triple square socket head bolts). Remove electrical connectors at the bottom of the bell housing, left side of trans and left side of bell housing (auto). Disconnect the connector on top (manual). Disconnect the small linkage arm attached to left and right lower control arms. Remove the starter.
3. Remove the torque converter bolts through the starter hole. Turn the engine with a ratchet at front to bring the bolts to the hole. They will be very tight, and difficult to remove, however: do NOT strip the heads off. Disconnect and remove fluid lines (auto). Remove rear exhaust clamps under driveshaft. Remove rear driveshaft heat shield and disconnect rear drive shaft. Disconnect linkage at left (2 bolts and pop it off)
4. Carefully remove the 4 small sub frame bolts in rear and then the 2 large ones while supporting with a screw jack, and lower the sub frame. Loosen the fronts if necessary. Remove the rear O2 sensors and disconnect harness from trans (zip ties). Remove the remaining nuts and brackets for the front exhaust pipes and remove. Set up the trans jack with a securing strap. Remove slave cylinder(manual). Take a good look around with a flashlight and disconnect/remove anything still connected or attached that I forgot to mention (this is for multiple engines/transmissions) or you forgot to disconnect.
5. Remove and mark the location of the bell housing bolts and carefully back the trans away, and pivot the rear away and downward, working it through the sub frame and axles, all while keeping an eye out for things catching, connected etc. Good Job! If you can do this, you can do just about anything!
Reinstalling is basically the reverse, but replace gaskets, etc. and top of fluid. Filling the fluid requires a special Audi tool.

How to Replace the Spark Plugs in a 2000 BMW 323Ci

1. Open the hood. Remove the round, plastic plugs on the left side (passenger's side) engine cover. Remove the 10 mm bolts that hold the cover to the engine with a socket and a ratchet. Set the engine cover aside.
2. Starting at the front of the engine, pull the metal clip back with your fingers or a screwdriver that holds the wire to the coil. Unplug the wire from the coil while holding the clip back.
3. Remove the two small bolts that fasten the coil to the engine block. Pull the coil out of the engine and set it aside. Loosen and remove the plug with a socket and set it aside.
4. Check the gap on the new spark plug against the specification on the emissions label near the radiator. Adjust, if necessary, using the gap tool. Install the new spark plug. When threading them in, install them slowly by hand to ensure that the plugs do not cross thread (go in crooked) and damage the threads in the engine. Tighten the plug with a torque wrench to 22 foot-pounds.
5. Reinstall the coil with the two bolts. Plug the wiring harness back into the coil and ensure that the metal clip is seated properly.
6. Repeat Steps 2 through 5 for the remaining plugs. Two of the coils will have small ground wires under the bolts. Note the location of these for reinstallation.
7. Reinstall the engine cover with the 10 mm bolts. Reinstall the plastic caps that go over the bolt holes. Close the hood.
