How to Replace a Headlamp Bulb on a Mercedes S430

1. Turn the headlight switch to the top-center position to turn the headlights off, and then turn the engine off and open the hood. Determine which headlight bulb you want to replace. Each side has a low-beam and high-beam bulb. The low-beam bulb is used for normal driving (the most likely to fail--it's used more often); the high-beam is used for your "bright lights."
2. Search for the bulb cover on the rear of the headlight assembly. The low-beam bulb is the outward facing bulb on the assembly; the high-beam bulb is the center bulb.
3. Push down the upper tab on the appropriate bulb cover. This will release the cover from the assembly. Set it aside. Behind the cover you'll find the bulb socket. On the rear of the bulb socket is an electrical connection. Unplug this connection.
4. Pull down the retaining spring; this wire holds the headlight bulb in place. Grasp the headlight bulb and pull it straight out of the assembly.
5. Insert the new headlight bulb straight into the mount (hold it by its base--not by the glass). Line up the notch on the bulb socket with the recession on the bottom part of the mount (low-beam bulb). For the high-beam bulb, line up the notch with the recession on top. Flip up the retaining sprint to secure the new bulb.
6. Plug the electrical connection back into the headlight bulb. Push the bulb cover firmly back in place to snap it back on.

How to Disable an OEM Alarm on a 2000 BMW 325 Ci

1. Deactivate the alarm by pressing the unlock button on your keyless entry key fob twice. If you lost the key fob, simply put the key in the driver's side door and unlock the car to deactivate the alarm.
2. Put the key in the ignition and turn it, but don't start the car. Then, locate the alarm override button, on the driver's side kick panel. Push and hold in the override button on the box until the car alarm beeps once.
3. Find the fuse box with the alarm fuse in it. The BMW 325 Ci has three fuse boxes. One under the hood of the car near the battery, one behind the passenger seat and one in the trunk on the right-hand side. The diagram on the fuse box panel tells you which fuse goes to the alarm. Use a fuse puller to remove the fuse so you don't damage the surrounding fuses.

How to Tell Paint Color by the VIN

1. Locate the VIN on the vehicle. The VIN is usually screwed in to the dashboard near the base of the windshield on the interior of the vehicle. Write down the 17-digit code.
2. Note what make your vehicle is; it will be somewhere on your car (if you don't know it). Look for symbols or badges on the trunk of the vehicle, such as VW for Volkswagen or T for Toyota.
3. Call the dealership associated with the make of your vehicle and let them know you'd like to be told the color code of your vehicle.
4. Read them your VIN. Each number or group of numbers can tell you a certain aspect of the vehicle. The groupings and number meanings differs from make to make, so there is no universal way of finding out your paint code. The VIN will not have the exact color code, but the dealership will be able to find out the exact color based on the VIN.
5. Obtain the paint code from the vehicle dealership representative. They may simply read you the actual paint code. If you'd just like to know the color of the paint, then ask for the color as well as the code. Once you've obtained the paint code, then you can look up the code on various automotive paint websites in order to purchase the proper touch-up or body paint.

How to Install a Fuel Filter for a Mercedes Benz 300E

1. Lift the rear of the vehicle with a floor jack and lower it onto a pair of jack stands. Under the car, between the right (passenger-side) rear tire and the fuel tank is a plastic cover that conceals and protects the 300E’s fuel filter.
2. Remove the plastic nuts that hold the panel on with a socket and a ratchet or a wrench. Remove the panel and set it aside.
3. Place a pair of locking pliers on the fuel lines where they come out of the either end of the filter so that they squeeze the lines shut. This is to prevent fuel from coming out when the filter is removed. You can also use rags between the jaws of the pliers to protect the lines.
4. Loosen the hose clamps that hold the fuel lines to the fuel filter with a screwdriver. Pull the lines off the filter by twisting and simultaneously pulling on them. Loosen the bolt or nut that tightens the filter to the filter bracket. Remove the filter and discard it.
5. Wipe up any spilled fuel with a rag. Install the new filter into the bracket, ensuring that the arrow is pointing towards the engine end of the car and away from the tank. Install the fuel lines and tighten the hose clamps. Remove the locking pliers from the fuel lines. Lower the car to the ground.

How to Use a Mercedes

Making Hands-Free Calls
1. Make a phone call on your Bluetooth-connected phone by pushing the 'Talk' button on your steering wheel. Your Mercedes will then say, 'Phone.'
2. Tell your Mercedes who to call from your cell phone's phone book. For example, if you'd like to call your mother and she is listed in your cell phone as 'Mom,' say out loud, 'Call Mom.' If your mom has several phone numbers listed, your car will ask you if you want to call Mom on her mobile, at home or at work. To eliminate the extra talking, just say, 'Call Mom on cell,' right from the start.
3. Listen as your car says, 'Calling Mom on cell,' and wait until your mom picks up the phone or leave her a voice message. You can also call numbers not listed in your phonebook by providing your car with the phone number to call. For example, say, 'Call 555-555-5555,' and your car will call the number you dictated.
4. End your call by holding down the 'Talk' button on your steering wheel.
Answering Phone Calls Hands-Free
5. Answer incoming calls by first looking at your radio screen to see who is calling. Your caller identification will flash the name and/or number of your caller on the screen.
6. Push the 'Talk' button on your steering wheel to answer your phone.
7. Push and hold down the 'Talk' button on your steering wheel to ignore the call.
