1. Press the small button in the front corner of the key fob. This releases the spare key from the device. Pull the spare key out of its slot.
2. Examine the key slot to find the indention. Push the spare key into the indention.
3. Lift up the cover while pushing in with the spare key. This pops off the key fob cover and allows you to replace the battery.

How to Change a Mercedes Battery


1. Locate the battery. The battery is found under the hood, on the left rear of the compartment (as you are facing the Mercedes).
2. Remove the battery cover panel. It's black and will have instructions printed on it regarding the proper maintenance intervals for the battery. Using a flat screwdriver, remove the screw on the top and completely remove the covering panel.
3. Detach the negative battery cable. The negative cable will be marked with a minus sign. Using a 10-mm wrench, loosen the bolt that closes the clamp of the negative cable around the negative battery lead.
4. Detach the positive battery cable. The positive cable is marked with a plus sign.
5. Pull the old battery from the Mercedes's battery storage slot.
6. Clean the connection clamps of the battery cables. Make sure that the rings of the connectors are free of any rust or other impurities by brushing with a wire brush.
7. Place the new battery in the battery slot. Make sure to keep the now-disconnected battery cables out of the way.
8. Connect the positive battery cable. Place the clamp around the positive battery lead. If you are not sure which cable is positive and which is negative, remember that the negative cable will be connected to the Mercedes frame or another part of the chassis. The positive cable will be connected to the fuse box or the starter. Tighten the clamp around the positive lead using the 10-mm wrench.
9. Connect the negative cable to the battery's negative lead. Place the clamp around the negative lead and tighten with the 10-mm wrench.
10. Replace the battery cover panel. Replace the battery cover panel screw and tighten with a flat head screwdriver.

How to Register Your BMW


1. Double-click your Internet browser desktop icon. Access the BMW official website online.
2. Click the 'My BMW' tab at the top of the BMW website's homepage. Click the 'Sign-In' action when the collapsible menu appears for 'My BMW'.
3. Double-click the 'Create an Account' button in the lower-right corner of the Sign-In screen. You will be redirected to the BMW Registration page for the site.
4. Enter your e-mail address in the designated data field, and retype your e-mail address for accuracy purposes. Create a password to accompany your e-mail address. Retype the password in the last data field to verify it for accuracy.
5. Click the 'Yes' radio button to indicate that you own a BMW. The next screen will process your log-in information, so you can register your BMW vehicle model. Enter requested information regarding the vehicle's VIN and/or production number.
6. Type the last seven digits of your BMW's VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) or production number in the required data field.
7. Provide your personal contact information, which will include your name, address, phone number, and BMW vehicle specifications to complete the ownership registration.
8. Click 'Submit' to process your information and access your BMW user account. Once you're logged into the account, you'll be able to look up contact information for local BMW dealerships. You'll also be able to reserve scheduled maintenance to have your BMW serviced.

How to Change the Thermostat on a 2.8 VW Engine


1. Locate your thermostat housing. This can be done by starting at the large hose connected to the top of your radiator and following it to where it connects to the engine. The housing on the other end of the hose can be removed, and you will find the thermostat underneath.
2. Use your wrench or your ratchet and socket to remove the thermostat bolts securing down the thermostat housing. Bolt sizes will vary depending on the model and year of the vehicle in question.
3. Pull back the thermostat housing to expose the thermostat. Note how the thermostat is oriented, and then remove it from the engine. Once you have the thermostat, you may discard it.
4. Use your razor blade or scraper tool to remove the remains of the thermostat gasket from the engine and from the housing.
5. Coat the bottom of the thermostat housing with a light layer of gasket sealant. Place the new gasket--it will have come with the thermostat when you purchased it--on the sealant, making sure that the gasket is oriented correctly to the housing.
6. Place the new thermostat into the engine block and orient it the way you noted in step 3.
7. Re-set the thermostat housing over the thermostat and screw the bolts back in to tighten it down.

How to Change a Mercedes Key Fob Battery


1. Remove the mechanical key from the Smart Key by sliding the button on the end of the Smart Key and pulling the mechanical key straight out.
2. Insert the mechanical key into the opening on the end of the Smart Key and push it in until the cover on the back of the key opens. Remove the cover to expose the battery tray.
3. Tap the Smart Key against your palm until the battery falls out. Use a lint-free cloth to insert the new battery, with the positive side facing up.
4. Reinstall the battery cover by inserting the plastic tabs, then pushing the cover closed. Test the buttons to make sure the new battery works.

DIY 2005 Audi A6 3.2 Oil Change


1. Drive onto the ramps, raise the hood and cut off the car's engine. Engage the parking brake and place wheel chocks behind the rear wheels to keep the car from moving.
2. Slide underneath the car and unscrew the skid plate covering the oil drain plug. Set the skid plate aside and place the oil container pan underneath the oil drain plug. The A6's drain plug sit on the side of the oil pan, so situate the container pan to catch the oil that spurts out after you remove the oil drain plug.
3. Remove the oil drain plug and gasket by twisting counterclockwise with the socket wrench. Allow the oil pan to drain completely before wiping the area around the drain and reinstalling the plug and gasket. Do not over-tighten the plug because over-tightening will damage the gasket. Slide the container pan underneath the oil filter.
4. Remove the oil filter and gasket by twisting it counterclockwise with the filter wrench. Place the filter into the container pan. Put a film of oil on the new filter's rubber gasket and reinstall the new filter, twisting by hand until the gasket touches the engine. Give the filter a final half turn with the filter wrench. Do not overtighten the filter.
5. Reinstall the skid plate and you are finished underneath the car.
6. Remove the filler cap from the atop the engine and, using the funnel, pour in the new oil. Consider using a GF-4 oil, jointly developed by auto and oil industry experts to meet new specifications and provide performance upgrades. Replace the filler cap.
7. Remove the wheel chocks and back off the ramps. Idle the engine for one minute, then check the oil level using the dipstick. Add more oil if it does not register full. Dispose of the old oil and filter by taking them to a service station or quick lube.

How to Remove the Head Lamp Lenses on a Mercedes CLK


1. Look into the hood of your car and locate the top of the head lamp.
2. Remove the electrical connector that is located at the back of the head lamp. To do this, grab the back of the lamp and wiggle it until it pulls loose.
3. Locate and grab the bulb holder that is located at the back of the housing for the lamp. Turn it halfway in a counter clockwise direction until you feel that you can pull it out of the housing.
4. Turn the bulb counter clockwise approximately a quarter to a half turn and pull it from the holder.
5. Lever a screwdriver into the bottom of the two plastic clips that you will see are holding the lens in. Be very careful on this step. The headlight lens can crack very easily if you force it out of its clips. Once you have the screwdriver pushing the clips out, you can gently pull the lens up and out.

How to Reset an Audi Service Light


1. Look at the dash instrument cluster and notice the square digital odometer in the center of the dash. There are two buttons, one on each side of the tripometer. The one on the right has a picture of a wrench on it and the other side sets the tripometer. This procedure works on Audi A4, S4, B6 and B7 models from 2002 to present.
2. Hold the wrench button down and turn the ignition key to the 'On' position, without starting the engine.
3. Push the left '0' button and hold it until the message center states 'Service! Indicator Reset Procedure/ Service Indicator Reset Complete.' Release the buttons and turn the key to the 'Off' position.

How to Remove the Left Wiper Arm on a BMW E38 740iL


1. Turn the E38's wipers on and stop them when the arms are at their topmost position. This will make the arm easier to remove.
2. Remove the single retaining bolt on the bottom of the left wiper arm connecting it to the wiper motor.
3. Pull up on the arm to remove it from the BMW. You will need to use slight pressure, as the wiper arm can be very stubborn. If you choose to use a wiper arm remover, grip the arm with the tool and pull up. Be careful not to damage the arm when removing it.

How to Drive a Tiptronic in the Audi


Gear Selector
1. Start the engine and depress the brake pedal.
2. Press the button on the gear selector level (center console) and pull it down to the 'D' setting, while continuing to hold the brake. 'D' will appear on the instrument cluster display.
3. Push the gear selector to the right into the Tiptronic gate, to enter manual program mode. 'M' will appear on the instrument cluster display, followed by a number signaling the gear that your vehicle is currently in.
4. Accelerate normally and push the gear selector forward in the Tiptronic gate to shift into a higher gear.
5. Pull the gear selector back in the Tiptronic gate to shift into a lower gear.
Paddle Levers
6. Start the engine and depress the brake pedal.
7. Press the button on the gear selector level (center console) and pull it down to the to the 'D' setting, 'S' setting or slide the selector into the Tiptronic gate. 'D,' 'S' or 'M' will appear on the instrument cluster display. Note that you do not have to be in the Tiptronic gate to use the paddle shifters.
8. Accelerate normally and pull the right '+' paddle shifter toward you to shift into a higher gear.
9. Pull the left '-' paddle shifter toward you to shift into a lower gear.
