How to Replace a BMW#039;s PCV Valve

1. Locate the PCV valve and loosen the clamps using a torque wrench. The PCV valve in the BMW is located behind the intake manifold. It may be necessary to remove the intake manifold to have enough room to locate the PCV valve.
2. Remove the hose from the PCV valve. Replace the hose and clamp if they appear to be worn, have cracks in them or are leaking. Remove the hose by gently clamping it with your angled needle-nose pliers and pulling it out.
3. Remove the PCV valve with your angled needle-nose pliers. If it is pressed into a rubber grommet, check to see if the grommet is worn. If so, replace the grommet.
4. Thread the new PCV valve in by hand to avoid damaging it.
5. Tighten the valve until it is secure. Do not overtighten as this could damage the valve.
6. Replace the hose and clamp to the valve.
7. Start the BMW's engine and check to make sure there are no leaks in the PCV valve or hose.

How to Replace the Battery in an Audi

1. Remove the weather stripping on the firewall. Grab it with your fingers and start tugging at it and it will pull off the firewall.
2. Remove the plastic shield covering the battery. This is held in place with two metal clips that you will have to pull off.
3. Unbolt the cable from the negative battery terminal first. To do this, loosen the retaining nut on the cable clamp counterclockwise until the clamp is loose enough for you to pull it off the battery terminal. Then, loosen the cable attached to the positive terminal and remove it.
4. Unscrew the battery wedge with the #6 Allen wrench and slide the wedge out of the way.
5. Remove the breather tube from the battery by pulling it off.
6. Tilt the battery backwards, and then pull it out of the engine bay.
7. Install the new battery. Installation is the reverse of removal.

How to Adjust Brake amp; Clutch Levers on a BMW F650GS

Adjusting the Clutch Lever
1. Ensure the motorcycle ignition is off, and locate the small black adjusting screw situated just below the clutch lever.
2. Turn the adjusting screw clockwise to move the lever away from the handlebar, and counter-clockwise to move it closer.
3. Apply the clutch and ensure that the all gears can be selected using the left gear pedal. If the gear changes are difficult or clunky, this suggests that the lever is adjusted too far in either direction.
4. Seek professional assistance and do not attempt to ride the bike if adjusting the clutch lever does not work; the problem could be a failing clutch cable, although this is very unlikely to happen on a modern motorcycle.
Adjusting the Brake Lever
5. Turn the ignition off and ensure that the motorcycle is at a complete standstill.
6. Turn the adjusting screw clockwise to move the lever away from the handlebar, and counter-clockwise to move it closer.
7. Squeeze and release the brake lever several times and ensure the stiffness of the lever remains consistent. Before riding you should also sit on the motorcycle and try to roll it forward while applying the brake lever.

How to Manuel Shift for the Best Gas Mileage

1. Listen to your car as you drive. You can hear the engine revving louder as the RPM increase. Your goal is to keep the RPM low without stalling the car. This will decrease the amount of power you have and slow down your acceleration time, because the engine will not be working as hard. It will take some practice to listen to your car and monitor the RPM gauge before you can shift to optimize your gas mileage. You do not need to have a manual transmission to do this. If your automatic transmission has the option to switch into a tiptronic mode where you can control the gears, you can shift gears in your automatic vehicle to get better gas mileage.
2. Shift up to a higher gear between 2 and 3 RPM until you get to your optimal gear for the speed you want to reach. If you quickly need power, for example when climbing a hill, you can downshift to a lower gear to increase your RPM and gain enough power to drive up the hill.
3. Shift down to a lower gear later than normally. As you decelerate, wait until the RPM get low before downshifting. This will prevent the engine from revving high when you shift to a lower gear. If you need to slow down to stop, you can take the car out of gear to glide to a stop.

How to Tell If the Idle Control Valve Is Bad?

1. Start your car, and listen to the idle. Does it sound faster or slower than usual? Does it 'stumble?' All of these things are symptoms of a failing control valve.
2. Locate the idle control valve on the intake. In every car they look different so refer to the repair manual of your specific car to know what it looks like.
3. Remove valve from the intake and clean with carburator cleaner. It will probably be covered with black varnish so some amount of cleaning will be necessary. Once clean, reinstall.
4. Start the car and determine if the engine's idling has improved. If the idling has not improved, you may need to replace the ICV.

How to Reset an Oil Light in 2004 BMW 530I

1. Get in the driver's seat and insert the key into the ignition. Turn the key to the 'ON' position.
2. Locate the reset button located at the top left side of the instrument cluster. Depress and hold for 10 seconds. A four line menu will appear on the speedometer display. The first line is the 'BACK' function followed by three service and maintenance items. An '0' symbol next to the service means that particular function cannot be reset at this time. An '!' means it can be reset. This is to prevent prematurely resetting a service. The system will not allow a reset during the first 20 percent of service.
3. Locate the lower axial FAS reset button on the turn signal high beam switch. Use it to scroll through the maintenance and service items. Select the 'Oil Service' to reset.
4. Depress the reset button for a few seconds to display a two line menu on the tachometer display. The 'Back' function will be listed on the first line, and the reset function will be listed on the second line. Use the axial button to select the 'Oil Service.' Depress the reset button again to reset the selected maintenance procedure. A third menu line will confirm a successful reset.
5. Log the date, mileage and service performed for future reference.
